11wt Scott Tarpon Rod

Well this is one that was kickin’ my butt for the past few days. Between the big diameter of the butt section and the fact that it has a guide spacing where the guides are no more than 7" apart it was not much fun to say the least.

Blank is a 9’ 11wt Scott Fly Rods 3pc, Reel seat is a Struble D7, I turned the full wells to be about an inch longer than a “normal” full wells and is done out of brown burl/Copano/Burnt cork with a matching large fighting butt. Used a pair since this rod is going to see some huge fish I used a pair of FUJI Silicone Carbide strippers on it and double foot guides. Wraps are a variegated Burgundy that gives a cool two tone tiger stripe look to it and trimmed it with metallic gold.

I don;t think I have ever been so thankful to have a rod done and off the bench!

Looks pretty sweet. I love the look of those burgundy wraps!

Yonks

are OUTSTANDING.

You may have been at the bench for a while wrapping, Steve, but golly, I think they are probably the purtiest wraps I’ve seen.

Customer sent me a couple pics of the rod in action with a huge Tarpon on the end of the line, guess the rod works
