Your Homeowners insurance covers theft.
Alas, one of the most basic rules of life: “No good deed goes unpunished.”
Sorry to hear of your loss, particularly when you were trying to help this guy must make it so much worse. I hope that his inability to act in a human fashion does not continue to taint your attitude towards other people who may be in a time of need.
I hope that at some stage this guy is able to appreciate the consequences of his inability to resist temptation. Obviously the opportunity you unwittingly presented was too much for him to resist.
Perhaps some of it may be returned in time? Good luck.
yeser, got a coppy of the police report & gonna go through the process of filling the claim through the insurance… it will cover the desks & video equipment but not the ring or pocketwatch…those 2 has to be filled under a different insurance & hopefully the insurance on my clock repair busines will cover those…
Ivan
Very sorry to hear of your troubles…
If you have any issues with the insurance adjuster accepting items and agreeing to pay for them hire an advocate. If that means an attorney, whatever. Insurance companies keep their costs down by denying everything they can.
Fraud is rampant and that is clearly an issue to them, but there is no reason for you to not get what you pay for. I have acted as advocate for a few folks when the insurers tried to be weasels. Surprisingly little pressure is required to make them straighten out… At least in my experience.

Good advise hap, thanks. Sorry Ivan; hope you can recover some of the important things.
i do have a good lawyer i needed… at least he didnt steal my tying materials of which some cannot be replaced…
And thankfully none of the little critters were hurt or killed. In my line of work (police reporter for newspaper) I’ve heard of many cases where beloved pets were hurt or killed not because they might make noise and alert people, but just because the crooks are heartless, soulless ghosts that used to at one time be human beings.
Sorry to be melodramatic, but, again, glad to know nobody was hurt and you’ll be able to recoup some of your costs and justice will prevail.
hey he didn’t get your guns! I would of busted a cap in his @ss!! too bad hes in jail now. don’t listen to that advice. I am jk. but seriously all I got to say is about this one is sometimes ya learn stuff the hard way. its sux I know and no matter how much you beat yourself up over it you can’t turn back time and you can’t do what you really wanna do to them cause you will be in prison then too! it really puts ya between a rock and a hardplace and it is always with ya for the rest of time. trust me I been in your shoes brother. I got a couple grand stolen from me and nothing else was missing but that and my gun was still sitting there and it was next to the money. no signs of break in either. wouldn’t a robber take it all? really hurts alot worse when you know one of your friends or family was the one whole stole from you…
well both insurances got the value covered is good news but the ring & watch caint be replaced cause they were 1 of a kind…
bugman - sorry to hear it. Glad you were compensated to some extent.
Here’s a tip on the ring and the watch. Call the authorities about once a week and ask how the “investigation” is going. If this guy actually did it - he knows where they went. Some diligent investigative work could still turn them up. This kind of things gets shoved to the back burner unless there is a reason to follow up. I learned this from a former deputy who is now a lawyer and prosecutor. Squeaky wheel. It worked for a friend of mine on some heirloom guns.
Sorry to hear about your loss.
You must be a stronger man than I am. I’m not sure I could have resisted the temptation to tie the piece of s&$#@ up and beat the soles of his feet with a baseball bat untie he either told me what he did with my stuff or I was satisfied that he would never use his feet again, which ever came first.
Jeff
Ivan,
Was your puzzle ring made up of three bands or four? Real sorry about the watch. Drop me an e-mail I may be able to help you track some things down.
Sean
it was a 4 peice puzzle ring
Start checking out the local pawn shops. People who B&E are doing it for quick cash, any cash…not the highest price. We were able to retrieve our stamp collection that way. That happened because the police had the forethought to inform the local stamp shops to look out for it. It contained one particular very rare stamp in it that was the give away. CD’s and Videos often end up at used book and music shops. The problem with retrieving them is that it’s hard to prove it’s yours. Tying DVDs are not your usual resale items though.
The tying desks may be sitting in a second hand furniture shop.
Gold may also end up at one of those cash for gold rip off places.
If they have a ‘friend’ acting as a fence, it’s harder to find your things…as it travels through many hands, pretty quick.
Better it was an aquantience of yours and not your son that did this.
you might consider having your home blessed in some way. You all have been violated, your nest was invaded. Best wishes to you for every good thing.

I had my home blessed! I got me a ak-47 anyone wanna come rob me now? haha!! don’t make me tape my banana clips together!!
Use this instead. Never runs out of ammo, silent, and it’s very tough for the skum-bag’s next-of-kin to say he wasn’t where you said he was if they try to sue you. One shot to the kidneys and he drops like a stone.
beetter yet, incert the blade near the cerebellum near the base of the brain upwards into the skull… instant ragdoll ya have then… lives up to a extremely painfull 15 minutes, caint move or make a sound…
