Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from FAOL

THE JOY OF CASTING

I like casting a fly rod! Good thing, because I spend most of my time on an Atlantic salmon river here in central Quebec. The famous fish of ten thousand casts! There are plenty of opportunities to practice our casting and presentations.

A NEW FATHER

The year was 1944 and World War II was starting to turn in favor of the allies. Some soldiers were sent home from Europe at this time as the need for manpower was decreasing.

A YEAR END MEDLEY

Here is our Christmas card from the Ladyfisher and the Chronicler to all of our friends at FAOL. Enjoy, and we pray that each of you know the Christ behind the holiday that we call Christmas.

TIMELESS RHYTHM - A SONG

Dee's annual Christmas story.

Our very best wishes to you for a Blessed Christmas and Joy and Happiness in the New Year. We thank you for being part of Fly Anglers OnLine - we couldn't do it without you! A special thanks to our U.S. Military wherever you are. We won't forget.

CRAZINESS

It was a day off and a very nice day to be out. Loaded everything in the truck, especially the vest, and headed out. I was heading to a pond that I don’t get to fish very often. I have to cross three pastures, and it is rare to not have cattle on any of them. I don’t cross fields with cattle in them. That way I can’t be blamed for any cows getting out. I got blamed for that one time.

HERRING DRAKE

Recently, while doing some research for an article I was writing I stumbled across nifty little pattern I wanted to share with your readers.  The pattern is called the Herring Drake.  It was designed for lake whitefish (Coregonus clupeaformis), which Michigan sportsmen erroneously call ‘herring’ (hence the name, Herring Drake).
