IDAHO FISH-IN WRAP UP
The 2010 Idaho Fish-In started early for VEE and I. As part of the advanced party we left a few days early to make sure there was ample water in the rivers, the bugs had their schedules for hatching and that the fish were not on strike.
When we arrived at the Three Rivers Resort, we checked in and drove to our camp site. Though we had an RV space we were tenting it, if you can call it that.

SPRING CREEK HATCHES – WHERE EAST MEETS WEST
There are many spring creek waters scattered across the United States and each is unique and different. Though they share some common ground, they soon can and will frustrate the visiting angler who has failed to properly prepare for the trip.

THE CODE
“House for Sale; - Cute bungalow on a quiet cul-de-sac in a good neighborhood.” You know what it says, and if you have been around the block at least once you know what it means. ‘Cute’ should be translated small, or more precisely, very small. ‘Quiet cul-de-sac’ means that the neighbors only throw wild parties every other week, and a ‘good neighborhood’ simply means that it is unlikely that your neighbors will shoot you but make certain that you lock your car!

NAME IT AND CLAIM IT
Fly fishers seem to be a pretty optimistic bunch and that is especially apparent in the current economy. Frankly I’m amazed we haven’t seen more complaining or downright bitterness on our bulletin boards. Sure, I know everyone is pretty much in the same boat - if you have a job you’re grateful and hope to hang onto it. Some have had to cut back on one thing or another, but over all I don’t see the gloom and doom here on FAOL that I’ve seen in other places (not necessarily fly fishing related.)

DOUBLE RAIN
On Saturday evening we got four inches of rain. Then Tuesday it rained another five inches. Both of these came in about two to three hour periods. The result is that there are no places to drive into. I know of one tractor that got stuck.

THE LOST WORLD OF MR. HARDY
Recently the Ladyfisher received an email concerning a DVD entitled “The Lost World of Mr. Hardy.” They offered to send us a copy for review, and after watching the trailer on their website I told her to request a copy.

FEATURED SPONSOR - CORTLAND
There are certain names that invoke instant recognition and in the world of fly fishing the Cortland name resonates with any fly fisher that has been around for even a few years. For those of us with mostly white hair on our balding pate Cortland fly lines were probably one of the first fly lines that we owned when we started fly fishing. My first fly line was a Cortland 333.

TYING THE PARASOL EMERGER
Several Years ago Jim Schollmeyer and Ted Leeson presented an article on the use of a new (to them) concept in fly tying and described the tying and use of flies called Parasol Emergers. Many commented on the article that the concept was not new and credit was given to Fran Betters as the originator of the concept here in the United States.

GETTING STARTED WITH 2 HANDED FISHING GEAR
The world of 2 handed casting and fishing can be very confusing to a newcomer, even one that has a background in single hand fly fishing. I am by no means an expert but I have made a start and wanted to offer some advice on setting up for two handed fishing. I will not go into the different casts and how to do them as I do not believe it is a subject that lends itself to the printed word. Get some lessons or at least get a good Spey casting DVD like the Rio modern spey casting set.
