Wire Tricks
By Henry Hoffman, Oregon

When using wire for ribbing, counter wrapping does the best job of reinforcing weak material. If you are doing this with a pattern using mono, bead-chain or dumbbell eyes, you can make the final wrap counterclockwise around one of the eyes. Now you'll have both the wire and the tying thread going in the same direction at the completion of the ribbing.

After the wire rib is tied off, cut off the excess with a utility knife blade or wiggle the wire back and forth until it breaks off where it comes out from under the thread. ~ HH
