If your parachute fly calls for a tapered body, try
this: (note- I've only done this using Polypropolene
for the post, it might work with calf hair or antron
too.) Clip off a section of the poly yarn.
Then, find out how much yarn is needed from the tail to
the tie-in part of the post. In this section of yarn,
taper the poly yarn by using scissors to make cuts which
will gradually taper the yarn until there is only a few
strands of yarn left.
Then, tie in the post from the tie-in point, and wrap the
thread back DOWN to the tail tie-in point. Now you
should have a pre-shaped tapered body for wrapping the
dubbing or whatever other material you are using. ~ Jonathan
