Tapered Parachutes
By Jonathan Sherwin (ffb)

If your parachute fly calls for a tapered body, try this: (note- I've only done this using Polypropolene for the post, it might work with calf hair or antron too.) Clip off a section of the poly yarn.

Then, find out how much yarn is needed from the tail to the tie-in part of the post. In this section of yarn, taper the poly yarn by using scissors to make cuts which will gradually taper the yarn until there is only a few strands of yarn left.

Then, tie in the post from the tie-in point, and wrap the thread back DOWN to the tail tie-in point. Now you should have a pre-shaped tapered body for wrapping the dubbing or whatever other material you are using. ~ Jonathan
