Allen Crise (AKA: Flysoup) of Glen Rose ,Texas; sent this
tip in, and it is a doozie. Or in the words of Allen, it is a Dooter.

My fishing partner, (my son) builds some great eyes
cheap and fast. Now if you are looking for some eyes
for trout flies for size #16 or #18, then this is not for you.
These eyes are for Clousers, Deerhair Bugs, and Deceiver-type
flies.
My son will go to the fabric shops like M. J. Designs or
Wally World, and pick up fabric paint. It comes in tubes
and in many colors. Using silver, black, red, and yellow.
Or any color you like.
He uses waxed paper. You remember the stuff that came
on the Dooter tubes. When Mom used up the waxed paper
you got the tube to run around with, going doot, doot, doot,
until she took it away. Lay the waxed paper out on a flat
table. Place small dots of the Fabric Paint in rows on the
paper to dry. Trying to keep them as close to the same
size as you can at least in pairs.
When dry, you can dot the dot with black paint or use as
is. When you are ready for the eyes just peel a couple,
(close to the same size), off. Glue them in place. I use
Super Glue or Devcon Contact Cement.
I cover the head with Softex or Sally Hansen's Hard-As Nails.
You can store the sheet of eyes easily, ready for next time. The
paint is less than a buck a tube for a thousand eyes. ~ Flysoup
Dooter Tubes? Wally World? Is this a Great Country or what!

If you have any questions, tips, or techniques; send them along.
Someone else thought up most of this material before we did,
they just forgot to tell anyone about it. Or else we just
forgot about it, while learning something else. Let us
share with each other, all the things we know!
