I've watched that video a few times and noticed some 'techniques' that are kind of unusual. Which is not to say it is less effective or efficient. Let's start with the way he attaches the thread - No waste of material but it may result in a looser underbody and does not save time versus snapping an end off. Second, as mentioned, his dubbing technique - Hey if it works for him, good. Third, anyone notice how he grips the bobbin holder? Does not use the thumb rest and it appears he holds one of the legs while wrapping the thread. Fourth, he cut the copper wire with the tips of the scissors. Good way to ruin the blades of a good pair. As far as the tying in and wrapping the hackle - nothing new in that method at all. Nonetheless, he ties a nice fly and if the methods work for him - that's what counts.
