Linemen is one of our generic terms in the U.S. It can be the power crew, telephone or cable.

In the U.S. Army we call the types you are talking about "Commo" for Communications Specialist or "R.T.O." Radio/Telephone Operator.

I wish the CDN Army would see the Commo as specs, we have/had to do every thing the Infantry did and our Comm stuff on top of it ..I know, I know whine whine, and no cheese.. I am out of that now and mellowing out now!!!
