Individual taste in books varies as much as the favorite rod or fly. With that in mind, we hope to review books and videos from the ever-growing fly fishing world, and share them with you. Books will be the best of all worlds, new and old. Many of the old books are now available in reprint, and the wisdom contained is timely today. Others can be found in second-hand book stores, or by mail order dealers. As we find videos we feel are outstanding they will be included. Be assured, reviews are based on what we have actually read or viewed, and due to that fact, may not appear weekly.

This is a highly original and interesting volume on the creative and artistic design of Atlantic Salmon Flies. Volume One contains 15 Flies representing 15 Birds. For the past decade Paul has been on the cutting edge of designing patterns that fully celebrate the texture and colors in the feathers that are available to the fly tier.
The volume is extremely well done and contains a wealth of information for the adventurous Salmon Fly Tier. Though well founded in the beautiful classic Salmon Flies of the past the patterns in this volume contain the new artistic Atlantic Salmon Flies for the 21st Century.
This volume is also a guide for how the author creates his patterns within a specified structure that he has established and I think that is volume will be many things to many people and will inspire others to let flow their artistic and creative juices. A fine volume which I highly recommend, in the past I have taught classes on tying Atlantic Salmon Flies and I can tell you that the attention to detail that you must commit to become proficient will improve your tying skills regardless of what you are tying.

This is Volume 2 of the highly original series by Paul Rossman and excellence that began with Volume 1 continues with this volume. Paul shares his journey of creativity with his fly and his art and his creative process is a learning experience for all who reads these pages. Once again as I recommend this volume and the series to all have an interest in fly tying, art and the wonderful bird feathers that we construct are imitations with.
