Your Record Trout?

Smallest?

This behemoth was caught by my buddy Scott today. I guess it just over 2 inches.

I catch some pretty small brown’s in the Chattahoochee which is a good thing because they are natives and not stocked. When I moved to GA, 20 years ago, no trout were reproducing naturally in the river.

It all happened pretty fast, so I can’t say for sure it was my smallest. But I believe the little fella’ is still in a geosynchronous orbit. I got a little carried away with the hook set with a Sage 590-4 TCR.

I had a very small one last week that had an out of water experience and meet up with the Great Wall of Hyde as it bounced off the side of the drift boat and came off the fly and swam away.

Not a trout, but I caught the smallest crappie I’ve ever caught this past January! We were up in a creek channel next to a little brushpile and there was a whole school of 'em hanging around. When they can barely fit a size 12 hook in their mouth, you know they’re small…

Not quite as small as yours, but last year, fishing the N. Platte looking for the nice rainbows, I hooked a 3 or 4" rainbow!

How’s this one?

Allan

Here is ONE of many. Love those back casts…

Must be a self preservation mechanism but I only remember my largest trout. An 8 1/2 pound Rainbow out of Waitts Lake just north of Spokane Wa. The smallest is lost forever in the chasms of my memory.

I have caught soooo many big ones, it’s the little ones I remember…

I’ve had a few fly over the boat on the hook set… G

Spinner1,
That fish has got to be 3, maybe 4 inches long. Don’t go flashing a picture of a big fish like that and call it a trophy trout. True trophy fish start at 2 inches and got down from there.

Sorry, this is actually a Chinook salmon, but…

Idaho Fish-in trophy!

Do I get extra points for the #8 October caddis in its mouth?

That looks like the same fish Jeff & I were catching. We found them up a tributary to the Selway across from the sandbar. Is that where you found yours?

Joe, that one is at about mile 155 on the Lochsa, at one of those 40-foot-down-to-the-water pulloffs.

Hmmmm - Spinner,

I have to agree with EdD - you’ve under-exaggerated on that behemoth! That’s at least 3 1/4" - nice try though! Not bragging, but I’ve caught em’ way smaller - brookies and browns! Keep at it though - don’t get discouraged!

Allan - What’s with that little trick? It doesn’t count if you fold em’ in half!!! I’ve already checked the “rule book” on this, so don’t bother trying for a second opinion or a “do-over” - we’re wise to you!! LOL!!

Best regards, Dave S.
