I got out early today to find a parking spot before the carnival started in the park I wanted to fish out of. Winds were strong and gusty, affecting casting accuracy and putting a bow in my line that made strike detection on my nymph difficult. The fish were in and around the Lilly pads so I had a lot of long distance releases as they wrapped the leader around the stems. Between the wind and the weeds, I think I lost as many fish today as I have all season. I think that shorter casts would help with both problems, but I have a habit of standing in one spot and just casting farther as the near fish are caught or spooked.
I lost more than I caught in the algae last week. Feel your pain.
