When you post a new fly pattern it asks for 15 characters. not all fly pattern names are 15 characters long. please fix
Ah - the Topic title had to be 15 characters.
Just ran into that myself.
Set it to 5 minimum
15 probably is saner, but can’t piss off the natives too bad
Thanks for the feedback.
Sorry … hit the wrong button … still in the learning the curve state . No action needed by admin!
I’m hoping everyone will enjoy this new forum.
Its based on more modern and secure programs.
It lends itself to self management.
Allows me to give senior contributors a bit of power over their “addiction”
and has some cool features.
Enjoy.
Looking great in here so far! Congrats on getting it set up and working. And thank you very much for doing it. I don’t post often but I do really enjoy reading what does get posted by others.

I second jdfog2 on that! Like them, I was never a frequent poster but always loved seeing others’ posts and learning new flies and techniques. I’ll try to “interact” enough that you don’t have to drop me!!
Thanks for getting FAOL going again!
BTW, I am trying to get my confidence up to tackle Carrie Stevens style featherwing streamers. Even though I’ve been tying actively for 15+ years, I still seem to get intimidated by them!
On the Carrie stevens streamers, try gluing up the feathers (wing, cheek, eye) for each side in advance. according to Kelly Galloup she used that technique not to speed up tying but to give the fly the proper action as the stiff front section tracked true while being trolled while the free rear section had movement. He glues the set back to the end of the jungle cock leaving the rest to undulate.
Thanks! I just had foot surgery so have a month or two with nothing to do but sit at the desk so I hope to get in some practice on them!
That’s good. I know i spent hours learning how to ip Block on the old site and that was a pain in itself when it stopped working. How does the new system handle that.
