Ok so I don’t want to wear waders to fish the surf during summer so I was wondering if you guys think there is a difference between these boots or the regular ones that look like sneakers and have a thicker sole…
apparently these give you more “control” when it comes to balance.
What do you guys think?
Thanks and happy Holidays!
All I can say is don’t do as I do.
I use pair of cheap neoprene ‘float tube’ booties… they suck
My buddy wears Cabela’s ‘flats sneakers’ or what ever they’re called
Big difference.
well, I intend to get them one day but just for protection not because of the water temperature. I just couldn’t force myself to wear waders to go to the beach.
go to a SCUBA shop and buy dive booties. Less $$ and mine haven’t worn out in at least 5 years of diving, float tubing, or mud wading (I use felt on rocks)
For beach fishing in the summer, I use Keen H2 sandals. They work great on anything except oyster bars and sharp rocks. Plus, they look a lot better than wading booties.
A lot of guys fishing Hawaii really like the Sea Sports Neoprine Tabis. They have a split toe to keep them in place on your foot and felt bottoms which afford better traction vs. the rubber soles on rocks such as jetties etc. They’re about $35.
I’m in NJ surf so in spring and fall waders are almost a must have. But in summer I wear the same sandle I would normally use while on the beach. Shimano has a decent and boat friendly soled sandle for under 50.00 bucks. I like the closed toe to protect from errant flies and lures.
