Hey guys! Does anyone know where I can get the recipe on how to tye the sow bug pattern. I am not looking for the pattern that is on here. I was looking for the one that looks like a roly-poly bug except a little bit flatter. Thanks in advance.
Click on the Articles button, scroll down to bottom of page and click on View Archives, then the Fly Patterns tab, and scroll down to nymphs. You’ll see the muskrat nymph with the dubbing picked out on the sides to immitate a sowbug. Simple but deadly!

Hook: TMC 2487 (usually a #14)
Thread: Grey 6/0
Can weight or unweight this pattern (If done,
wrap .015)
Body: Grey antron (dubbed fat) with medium clear larva lace wrapped over.
Turn fly over & give a coat of softex to underside then lay grey UV Ice dubbing across underside. When dry, pull downward.
Turn fly over again & coat with softex, letting it drip down a bit. Trim Bottom legs
short & even !!!
This pattern works very well !!!
Tightlines (Alpinefly)
