Flyfished “the swamp”. Fished some new-to-me spots there. Good day. Caught 27 fish total. Caught 10 species!!! They were:

  1. Bowfin
  2. Shortnose Gar
  3. Grass Carp
  4. Common Carp
  5. Largemouth Bass
  6. Warmouth
  7. Bluegill
  8. Green Sunfish
  9. Black Crappie
  10. Yellow Bullhead

I didn’t take pics of all the species (LMB, Bluegill)…here’s some of the rest:
Warmouth:

Green Sunfish:

Yellow Bullhead:

Black Crappie:

Common Carp:

Grass Carp:

Shortnose Gar:

Bowfin:

Quite a variety Dave. Nice catch.

Dennis

Thanks, Dennis! It was definitely a fun day!
Oh…and I caught a snake, too. This one, to be exact.

He was in the water minding his own business, but watching me. I thought I’d tap him on the back with my fly to get him to “move along”. Instead, it turned lightning-fast and grabbed the fly! I had to unhook him, and in doing so, it left me smelling very skunky. Lesson learned. Leave the snakes alone.

Later, I saw this one, who was very well-behaved.

That second snake looks like he ate a lot more flys than the one you inadvertently caught. He was well-behaved because you didn’t try the “fly on his back” trick after learning from your prior experience.

Dennis

Nice pictures David! Amazing fishing there!

I believe you are correct, Dennis! The second snake DOES look like he’s just finished digesting the last guy who tried to drop a fly on his back. :stuck_out_tongue:

Thanks, Dale!
