I am truly frustrated, I have a pair of Simms Gore-Tex waders and one of their nylon wader belts. Nylon is slick as is the exterior of the waders. I have a big belly and small hips - get the picture. The belt keeps sliding down, surely someone makes a belt that has some kind of a tacky back that would help it stay in place better. Any recommendations?

As one who also suffers from Dunlap’s disease* I can understand your plight.
I have a wading belt from Simms that is similar in style to a weightlifting support belt. It is about 1 inch in width in the front and has a 4 inch high back support pad.
I think it’s great. The back pad really helps support your back on a long day of fishing. It slides a little bit, but it is easy to hike it back up. It is a vast improvement over a convential wading belt.
Try one, I’ll bet you like it.

I believe Dunlap’s Disease to be closely related to BoobZag’s Syndrome which I’ve heard afflicts older women.

I have thought about the simms belt with the back support and I think it is a good idea but it looks like they could apply a thin coating of something to keep it in place. As to the Velcro idea, I wonder if you could use the stuff they give you to patch waders to adhere some Velcro to the waders say on each side then do the same to the belt? We’re rollin now keep the ideas coming and maybe us sufferers from Dunlap’s could find a cure from waderbeltsaround ankles syndrome!
For REAL confort, you could also look into a leather belt from a good motorcycle shop.

You are really needing to wear two wading belts. The SIMMS safety video (free) shows why and how. I wear two belts. The back supporting type around the belt line, and the usual narrow belt right at the top of the wader.

I switched to a plain nylon adjustable belt with a quick release buckle. bought mine from REI, but I think you can get them lots of places. If you have the belt in the right place vertically, it won’t slide down.
I thought for a long time before posting this possibility, but, how about suspendors to hold the wading belt where you want it?!

I wear the wading belt just under the gut, kinda like you’d wear a pair of jeans that used to come all the way up to the waist. Works for me…

You could always carry two fat wallets, one in each back pocket.
Cinch the belt up tight and the wallets will keep it from falling down over your hips. 
I’m kind of like Jim above in that I have a natural waistline just under my gut. The belt stays pretty good in that spot.

That’s what I meant by the right spot vertically. 
Try putting a bead of goop on the inside of the belt similar to what some trouser manufactures put on the inside of their trousers to keep tucked in shirts from riding up and coming un-tucked. Not sure exactly what they use but it remains slightly tacky and after time is more rubber like.

Why don’t we all write Simms a collective letter suggesting to them what a good idea it would be to integrate belt loops into their full length waders. Other manufactureres have done it for various types of waders, and Simms may have done it with their waist high waders.
BTW, Ozark, you are wearing full length waders aren’t you? I’d hate to think that there is a plumber’s moon coming out from time to time when that belt slips.
Yep, full length waders, my wife was with me on that trip so I had to be on good behavior! She seems to have something against certain part of my anatomy and public.
I like the goop idea, I think I am going to do some experiments along that line. I also like the idea of loops on waders. I did write Simms an e-mail asking what they thought when designing the combo.
The wallet idea might have some merit but I’ll have to fill it up with newspaper. Seems cash and fly fishing are on opposite ends of the spectrum. Why is that anyway

I have tried that approach with goop on shotgun shoulder slings and shoulder game carriers…they still slipped…but what the heck, give it a try.
I have glued velcro to various places on my float tube with goop and it has held real well.

One of the new Simms waders has an integrated waist belt but what I would look at is one of their other non-nylon wading belts. They make one from neoprene and another one from urethane material. I would bet one of those would work for you. I have an inexpensive wading belt that I picked up at Dick’s Sporting Goods. It is made of a stretchy material and the inside is rubberized. It stays put very well. I bought it some time ago and I don’t know the brand though. I took a quick look on their web site but I didn’t find it.
