How about a Popper Swap (foam, balsa or cork bodies)?

Looking for 6 Tyers to tie 2 different popper patterns (6 of each)

Popper bodies can be preformed (Wapsi, Rainy’s etc), home made/hand carved - doesn’t matter as long as it’s foam, balsa or cork.

Poppers can be any size from bream to saltwater/pencil etc.

Sign up deadline: Dec 4th, or the first 6 to sign up
Tying/mailing deadline: Please have in the mail by Jan 4.

Standard swap rules as usual: Recipes, special tying instructions, toe tags with tyers name/handle, SASE for your returned flies, and most importantly for this swap, a proper sized box and return envelope.

Please state size and style for each pattern you’ll be submitting by sign up deadline so everyone will know what to expect and how big of box to send.

Address will be sent by PM.

Crease fly’s are fine. The body material is some kind of foam right? Sounds like it fits the bill for this swap. And if not, well then…I’m the Meister and I make the rules! :smiley: You’re in!!!

Yes, the body is made from Sheet foam. In fact, other than the tail, that’s the only material used, besides Prismacolor markers and epoxy.

Or, if you’d rather, I can tie up some of my mini-crease flies, for blugills

is a guggle bug considered a popper? if so i can do /or another

Don’t know if it’s a true popper, but it’s foam and they fish like a popper, so it works for me. Any size that works will do.

I would like to get in on this one, been waiting to see a popper swap or have my own…thanks for having this one…
would be doing a very small gill size popper and a large popper for the big fish not sure of exact size or material yet.

Recap of rules for this swap:
-This swap will be 6 tyers Max (plus me).
-Each tyer will tie 6 each of 2 different patterns. You pick the patterns. I just ask they they fall in the ‘Popper’ catagory and made of foam cork or balsa etc.
Poppers can be any size. Each pattern can be any size.

We still have room for 1 more.

If there is still an opening I will go for some Hipp’s soft body poppers. Let me know for sure.

this is just a suggestion

this swap is going to contain larger flies and should be sent out in a larger box than you would normally use for a smaller fly swap.

i’m not sure an altoid tin is going to be large enough to hold 12 bass bugs.

I originally stated I would tying #2 Foam Body Frogs and #2 Balsa Pencil Poppers. but am changing the #2 pencil poppers to #8 bream poppers.

not being a big popper tyer i’m gonna tie some ‘stp frogs’ and an ‘ear plug popper’. i’m just unsure of the sizes at this time. gotta stop at the big box craft shop for some white foam.

STP frogs are a great choice! An ‘ear plug popper’ sounds interesting! let us know once you decide on hook sizes.

mine will be 10 or 12 small game size popper and a 2/0 foam head popper for the big game hunting so altoid tin wont get it done…
