I fish out of a square stern grumman canoe & thinking about putting some outriggers on it to help stabilize in large rivers & sight fishing standing up. Anyone have experience with outriggers on a canoe?
MN,
If you send me your email address, I’ll send you a photo and explain how I have my Grumman square-stern rigged with outriggers and stand-up post for sight fishing. I don’t know how to do photo bucket. Regards, Bill

Great, thanks!
I have a 12’ solo canoe that I have considered putting building outriggers and then mounting oar locks atop them so I can row it.
I have seen some commercial units, but I think I can rig up some square aluminum tubing for much less than what is offered.
I think the low cost way of doing this is PVC pipe and foam cylinders, large pool noodle type cylindrs.
I think so too, but crab floats make better (more druable) flotation than pool noodles.
Crabbing is really lousy in north metro Atlanta, therefore crab floats are hardtop come by around here. Salmon fishing is lousy also, but my Maine native friends I go to church with tells me the weather for the next 4 month makes living here worthwhile
