While taking a look at the $1600 fishing kayak on their web site, this caught my eye. Ahh! Orvis does has some reasonable stuff, I thought. This price is similar to some discount outfits. The bubble bursted when I read the spec 44" long.
Sorry about the gimicky title. Orvis never ceases to amaze.
On the other hand, you could probobly build a similar but full size stripper yak for $299 in materials.
Great project if you have a few hundred hours to spend over the winter !

I was wondering if you were still around. You still building rod and boats. I’m still using the St. Croix WeeHooker Bushrod you built. It comes in handy this time of year when the snook are back up in the canals. That one inspired me to start building my own rods. I do most of my fishing out of a kayak these days, which seems to be about the fastest growing segment of the fishing community here in Florida. Nice to see you posting somewhere. I’ve missed your wit and wisdom.
