No coal for me for Xmas this year

the mailman just brought me a package from Augsburg, Germany.

My buddy Jan Tomasak sent me a variety of milka candy bars.

50 of them.

Just what this fat boy need.

Spinner, old buddy, old pal, chum of mine. That’s a terrible thing to have happen to you. To help you in dieting, and only through great self sacrifice, I’ll take 45 or so of those off your hands. Heck, just to show you my hearts in the right place, I’ll pay the shipping.

The only thing I like better than German chocolate is spending money in a German bakery. Preferably one on a small side street, away from the tourist section.

fond memories

I lived in Germany for about 6 years.

Have lots of friends over there still.

Bakery and meat shop on every corner.
Fresh daily bakery…homemade sausages

Did i mention a brewery or 2 in every major town?

The Christmas Market in Nurmberg has to be amazing this year as usual.

OK Len. I don’t know if you know of this place or not, but you have to visit the Bavaria Sausage Kitchen in Verona – http://www.bavariasausage.com.

Milka, Kinder, Lindt, Haribo, Ritter… lots of others. For some reason, many of the candy choices do not show up on their site. Bummer.

Not to mention lots of German meats and cheeses. Good place to take your venison too.
This is a great little gem of a shop.

Also – interesting you should mention Nuremberg. My girlfriend’s father was one of the white helmeted guards/escorts during the trials. Most of the time, he was assigned to Speer.

BTW – nice score on the Milka bars.

Ah, the delights of Germany. Exquisite chocolates, magnificent breads, hearty foods and smoooooooooooooth beer. Oh, and let’s not forget the lovely ladies who can work hard all day and dance all night. Memories of Cologne and Kolsh…

Berlin Germany was my hang out for a little over a year, wonderful place to be during Christmas…

If you need to er…get rid of some of those fattening bars, ya know, I’d be willing to take some off yer hands…ya know…just in case you need to lose the temptation…

haha, but seriously, those look great! I got an early christmas present of a beautiful shotgun, so I’m itching to go quail hunting!

My wife’s grandfather used to send us a care package every year at Christmas time. Haribo Gold Baren, Marzipan, and the chocolates with the liquer in them. Man, I do miss those packages. I need to dig around on the 'net and find me some marzipan. That stuff is as addictive as fly-tying.

Wonderful gift!

There are dozens and dozens of recipes for marzipan. Do a Google search for it and you will be delighted! Remember that marzipan can be either the treat or the ingredient in the treat. You should be able to make your own with ease.

Thanks, folks! Now, I just have to figure out which of the delights to get.
One of each? Nah!! Two of each!!
