Just came in from the shop. Built a new power head for the furling board I am going to be building soon. Left the shafts long until I get a box built for it.

Your right on the gears…3:1. I plan on using a sewing machine motor for power. A hand held drill wiould work just as well though.

The two furling jigs I’ve built had very similar gear arrangements - the first one in a 3:1 ratio and the second one in a 5:1 ratio.
Brad’s looked more like the 3:1 set up, and the relative size of the gears also suggested that is the gear ratio he used.
