I’ve pretty much adopted The Lochsa as my new home water. While looking for additional information on it the other day, I ran across this video. Thought you all might enjoy it.
It has fished great with dry flies the few times I have been on it.
I am sorry, John, you can’t adopt it until you come to the Idaho fish-in with us. And wear a pirate costume. And catch something on a woolly bugger there.
You said Dry flies??? Looks like it might be a little difficult to get a good drag free float to me. Hope to see you on the 2010 video next year. I vote for a pontoon for your white water raft next year. You’ll make the video for sure. Congrats.
WOW! Seems like the most common orientation of those boats is upside-down. I knew that the Lochsa was a world class river, but it sure looks different in September.
I’m gonna send you an airline ticket so you can come up and be second oarsman in my 'toon. If I’m running late on race day, go ahead and start without me.
Have you ever stopped at Lolo Hot Springs on the way back? My brother-in-law, who lives in Missoula, has been there many times and raves about the water’s restorative powers. He’s a bit of a space cadet and I take most of what he says with a grain of salt, but I’ve heard others say it’s worth a dip. Hope you’re enjoying your new home in the land of zero sales tax.
I’d love to take you up on your generous offer, but I believe I’m busy on that day for the rest of my life. But, thanks for the offer. Have fun on your new home water and good luck in your new home.
That is a great picture. And The Lochsa would certainly fish easier, if not better, under those conditions. The problem with fishing it when at the flows are at the levels shown in the video is …
