My best friend and our new fishing buddies!

I have had German Shepherd Dogs all my life, and about six years ago some bastard stole my 18 month old wonder GSD “Dargo” from my back yard in the middle of the night, the thief broke two locks to do so.

Well I promised myself that I would be retired before I try and ease the pain of that loss. I will not leave this fellows side, I was 8000 km away when he was taken, Ann called me in tears, I almost ended up in Military jail that night, I did end up in custody but the meatheads were understanding.

My wonderful wife (Whom is feeling so much better, for those that know of what I am saying) waited until her own sons were gown and able to take care of themselves to get her dream dog.

My GSD name is “Fischer” which means “fisherman” in German

Ann’s Golden Retrievers’ name is “Thor” which means “God of the Goofy” in Viking I think.(Just kidding he is a big goof, and is very red around his head and ears, and thinks he is bigger then he is, I know and admire the Norse God Thor)

Nice dogs. I lost my lab 1 year and a half ago to cancer. I still miss him terribly. I know your loss and pain.

As for the name Thor, it come from the thunder god as in this limerick

The Thunder god went for a ride
Upon his favorite filly.
I"M THOR ! He cried
The horse replied
You forgot your thaddle thilly.

Hi flyfishfairwx.

Thor was not a god of the Goofy, he was one of the “biggest” gods in old nordic religion. He was the strongest of them and the god of weater and wind.

Here are some links that explain it if you want: http://www.ravenkindred.com/ and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thor

Actually my name is Thorarinn and it’s an old nordic name in which the first four letters relate to Thor… and that’s why i bothered answering this…not my religion of course but has to do with my lands history

Nice dogs, I have a Border Collie and take it hiking and fishing whenever I can, he loves it.
He is actually very smart, if I mention the word bath, he slowly disappears to the ground flour, if he could he would whisle some tune on his way

So are GSD’s fairly laid back when they become adults?
I had a Jack Russell Terrorist named Rosco and I lost him about a year and a half ago. I think some coyotes got a hold of him. He came back one day pretty tore up and left that night. Haven’t seen him since. JRT’s think they are ten times bigger than they really are. They are very energetic dogs and if I am able to get another dog, I want something a little more on the laid back side this time.

Ray,
Thanks for the nice photos!

Thorarinna Plse do not take offense as none is meant, Thor is a great dog and he thinks he is the biggest and baddest. He jumps around and comes down on Fischer with his big hammer feet, and has found his outside voice and it does sound like the voice of a loud GOD…

They are very laid back if that is their personal nature and character.
I have been around some GSD from birth until they pasted, and trufully you have to judge their character when you meat them, some are very hyper and some are very laid back. If you want more info Plse PM me or email…

Everybody thanks for your words of concern and caring, I truly will miss Dargo for the rest of my life and I know that Fischer is and never will be Dargo. But trust me when I say that this fellow will be the best cared for GSD in North America…

Man, makes me wish my two retrievers were still puppys, damn that’s a cute one

No offense taken

Yes they are cute when they are puppies, worst it’s only for a week or so
