light sulphur nymph pattern

Anybody have a light sulphur nymph pattern for here in central, PA? Would you like to share it?

lastchance - here’s the recipe for the dark sulphur nymph from Flyfisher’s Paradise in State College - for the light sulphur nymph, just use Hareline dubbing #43 .

Hook: TMC #5262, #12-16

Thread: 6/0 black unweighted, 6/0 brown weighted

Weight: Fine lead wire, if desired

Tail: Brown partridge or brown speckled hen fibers

Body: Blend of 50% dyed brown Australian opossum and 50% orange sparkle yarn

Wingcase: Doubled thickness of turkey tail quil

Legs: Brown partridge or brown speckled hen fibers, tied in front of and to either side of the thorax

In my experience, the early sulphurs are best imitated with the light sulphur nymph, and are about 10mm long (size 14 hook). Farther into the hatch, the Invarias are 8-9mm long (size 16 hook) and are best immitated with the dark sulphur nymph.

Good Luck and tie quickly - they’ll be here real soon!..Ed

There are a couple of expert anglers in central PA that use a fly that they call the Gooseberry. I’ve heard that it is more effective than any light sulphur nymph pattern. I also heard that they can catch trout in a sewer with a Gooseberry. You had might try to run into these characters and find out how they tie this unGodly fly.

That was an unGodly post!
