Visited 2 spots in southern MO. One I had been to before, one I had not heard of before but it was recommended by a fishing buddy.2.5 hours to the first spot, 1.5 hours to the 2nd spot, and then 2.5 hours home. 6.5 hours drive time consumes a lot of (potential) fishing time!Still, it was a good day. I caught 16 species! Most were micros. Darters were one of my main targets for the trip. I didn’t see many. I did get one or two to hit the tanago fly…but they were just to small to eat it far enough for me to hook them. Pretty little guys, tho.I caught:Bleeding ShinersStriped ShinersMimic ShinerNorthern StudfishBlackspotted TopminnowHornyhead ChubLongear SunfishGreen SunfishBluegillHybrid sunfishRedspotted SunfishShadow BassSmallmouth BassWarmouthWestern Dollar Sunfishand Golden ShinerAlso had a bird land on my hat for a bit while I was fishing.Pics!..Shadow Bass:Longear Sunfish:Warmouth:Redspotted Sunfish:Western Dollar Sunfish:Bleeding Shiner:Golden Shiners:Hornyhead Chubs:Blackspotted Topminnows:Bird on hat:

Fantastic assortment of fish. The bird could have donated a feather or two for you to use.Nice going.Larry —sagefisher—

Nice catch Dave. I like the camouflage look of the Shadow Bass (catchy name). Dennis

Thanks Larry and Dennis! :)I think it was a young bird…possibly a barn swallow, based on others flying around, and being near 2 bridges they were nesting under. This one didn’t have the pointed forked tail feathers yet. I like those Shadow Bass too. I saw a couple others, and got strikes, but didn’t hook either one. They may have been spawning… they didn’t move far from their “spots”, although neither spot looked anything like a typical sunfish nest.
