I’ve been tying and fishing with Green Rock Worms for decades. The chewy skin/pearl ice dub idea is a new twist I learned about from my friend and fly tying mentor Willy Self, of Bozeman, MT.

Cool fly, thanks for the recipe. Didn’t Bob Jacklin use a similar fly to catch that monster brown on the Madison a few years ago?

Regards,
Scott

Bob did use a Green Rock Worm fly to catch that beast. A bit different tie, but pretty similar. Here is the YouTube on how Bob ties it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oSpaGIkes0w

Kelly.

That is a nice tie !!!

I don’t know if you guys have seen these, they are from J:Son through Hareline…

http://www.hareline.com/newproducts.html

My son Michael has been “bugging” me to tie some up, to match this little guy, in the left hand corner, that inhabits the East Walker River…

They arrived at my local shop yesterday and I’ll be picking them up today…when I figure it out…I’ll put my effort up…:stuck_out_tongue:

PT/TB

Can’t find them on the web - does your local shop do Mail Order? They look awesome.

My shop, The Fisherman’s Spot, in Van Nuys, CA orders all kinds of stuff for me from their suppliers…so does Bob Marriott’s down in Orange County…

PT/TB

I might be able to get a similar effect by using Thin Skin, Bug Skin, dubbing, and Goose Biots.

I’ll give it a try and see what happens.
