Favourite Rods

I am just wondering what everyones favourite rod is? as well as line and leader and reel too i guess…and if anyone can recommend a good pair of waders for under 150…but mostly just whats everyone’s favourite rod?

Mine is a little st croix imperial 7 ft 3 wt

Hi OSH. Do you mean still in production? I know a lot of folks will be telling you about great rods that “just ain’t available no more!”
Bob

Ian - The wader answer depends on what kind of waters you will fish and when. Do you want light weight breathables or cold water neoprene? IMHO Cabela’s is hard to beat for quality and price either way. They offer a wide selection of brands and types. They have decent products in your price range. As always, it is best to try on first, but they also have good return policy if you mail order.

My favorite fly rod…my 8ft #6, 2 piece Irish Republic “Jewel” bamboo. I have fished this rod since 1973 and it is still my goto stick. Otherwise…Phillipson “Master” glass, 6 footer on the small creeks.

Good thread. I will be on the Garden River in September with an 8 wieght graphite for the pinks…see you there?

I have rods made of various materials, lengths, line wts, actions, price range and nationality.
My favorite is the one I’m holding in my hand.

My favorite is my Orvis Trout 7’6" 4wt. rod, C.F.O. 111 reel with 5wt. Wulff Triangle Taper flyline.

It’s the new Kusse “boorod” that I haven’t been able to sneak past the wife yet.

Lew

Favorite rod/reel/line combo:
Winston WT 8’ 4 wt. with Galvan Open Back reel, lined with SA GPX 4 wt. WF line.

However, the one rod I use the most is my Cabela’s Three Forks 3 pc. 3 wt., 7’6". Because of the cheap price, I don’t worry much about breaking it. However, the action is great, so I think it’s probably the best investment I ever made, even though I have several rods that cost a lot more.

I love my GL3s (9 6wt and a 8’6" 4wt, both are 4 pc rods). My favorite reel is my Ross Cimarron 2 paired with SA GPX 6wt and also a spool with a SA full sink line (forget which one off the top of my head since that spool is at my parents house right now).

As for waders I look for the most durable waders I can find after having trashed 3 pairs in the past 5 years.

Take care everyone and cya around. Mark

I’ll tell you all… if Orvis doesn’t pick up on FAOL and other prestigous fly fisher websites endorsement of 444 peach line they are missing the boat. I have 4 sets of WF in various sizes and one DT in size six. And they brought out the 555, why?

I enjoy all my rods. If I didn’t enjoy them, I wouldn’t own them.

But my favorite…is probably the one I don’t own yet.

***I edited this post after reading the entire thread again. Why did I ever post on such a ridiculous thread?
