I realize there have been postings on strike indicators, and everyone has their own preferences. Here is a model I make from foam floats.
Small Comal foam floats are disassembled and prepped for hardware. A slot is cut in an 8-32 nylon machine screw for placement leader. The machine screw is epoxied into place. The opposite end of the float is plugged with a roll of hobby foam and trimmed flush. Rubber gaskets are glued on the nut and washer with gel CA glue. I use Mod Podge as a sealant and several coats of DecoArt Duraclear polyurethane varnish as a finish. It gives an old man something to do.
