What do you guys use when you chum for Carp and other gamefish?
Opps. Not legal everywhere…here for one.

I fish Carp often…with flies,Nymphs mostly unless they are feeding on dries…and I do not use chum…But if it is legal and floats your boat…Guess it is ok to stoop to it…
Takes alot of the fun out of things in my opinion…But they are not the easiest fish to catch!
Prolly why I like em!
I like small gobs of Bald Eagle, Spotted Owl or Passenger Pigeon. What is your favorite?
I’ve not used chum for any fish. However, if I were, and if I were fishing for trout, I’d use what I’ve read the old timers down in central PA did, grasshoppers.

There is a spot we sometimes pester carp, well a couple places, where the people feed the ducks. WE don’t chum, but the “duck feeders” do it for us. One place they toss bread, so a floating “bread” fly does well. The other place they sell grain to toss at the ducks, so a “corn” fly on the bottom seems to work OK.
Ever thankful for ducks and kids…

I generally use a mix of California Condor and oatmeal with a bit of sea turtle eggs a binder. Great stuff. Works well. And If all else fails think omelet.

I use corn for carp and maggots for everything else. I don’t do it when I’m fly fishing, though.
The simplest chum and bait for carp is plain old canned sweet corn. The are a few flies out there that imitate corn. Mostly yellow glow bug yarn.
Hope this helps,
Steven
I use cash. It doesn’t work any better than corn for me but it makes me feel cooler than the other anglers at the pond simply because I CAN use cash as chum.
There is a fine line between fly fishing and standing in a river waving a stick, and YOU SIR have crossed that line!

Easy! Leebrals! Only carp will eat them.

Nope, ain’t got them out here. Must be an east coast thing.
I usually use a google bomb.
well saltwater anglers seem to chum with no moral or ethical outcry so I can’t see why it would be so outrageous to chum in freshwater (as long as its legal in that area of course).

Hey Folks,
Chumming for rough fish is quite common
in Europe. The sport is considered a bit
more prestigious as well over there. Here,
many of us tend to look down our nose at
carp and other rough fish, but those in the
know are fully aware of the sport they can
provide and in some cases quite tasty table

You won’t get any smartass coments about how Carp are inferior when in Europe they are bigger than Bass are here. The site has many helpful members on the board that will answer your questions.
So Irondragon, you think that honest opinions regarding carp are “smartass comments”? Feel free to attack back about the ugly trouts and the repulsive waters in which they are found, I personally, can handle the abuse.

Marco,
Devil’s Ditch had a question and he just wanted to know what people do to catch carp. Most people posting were making wise cracks. People seem to have problems with carp because they evolved to live in the waters most fish can’t. Also most people can’t get to trout waters. So they look for the biggest fish in there area. This usually is carp. I know this won’t change your opinion. The deal most of you have with carp is just stupid. I think if you are looking for carp info you should go to a carp site where people will help you. Not make jokes because in there opinion they think a type of fish does not deserve to exist. If you don’t have anything to say that will help the person asking questions then don’t post it.
Just my thoughts and goodbye,
Steven
