Archimedes Creek TR

Gas in the Flathead is $2.99 and even with the Tundra unloaded, I’m lucky to get 18mpg so a “local” trip was in order. A bit of haze in the morning, either from the fire over by Libby or a gift from our friends in Washington

After swapping stories with a nice couple from Lethbridge on shared VW Vanagon adventures (they still had theirs), I headed for the creek. First look at this sign gave me pause

Closer inspection revealed I just had to leave the surf rod and 4" Hopkins hammered spoon in the truck

Some nice holes down low but no fish

Time to head up; a shift in the breeze cleared things up a bit

Light to dark, shallow to deep

A few more in the flat water stretch but pretty slow so it was off to the suds

Specs (or a bull; never looked at it closely before I released)

Cutts run a bit bigger up in the canyon

Fight foam with foam; tan was the big producer today

Up higher on the ridge, this place was a Type 1 burn last August; a few embers touched down here on the lower slopes

Low miles, new treads; I really expect to see someone driving one around Stumptown this winter

Sign read “Low” last week; shape of things to come?

Regards,
Scott

Some very nice pictures and nice looking water.
