Default Dangerous Weather On The Way Please....

...take protective measures if you must be outdoors from Montana to the east coast Thursday through Monday. Pay particular attention in the northern plains and Canada. Folks we are talking about temps and wind chills that kill!

Here is a link from Accuweather in State College Pennsylvania:

    http://www.accuweather.com/regional-...=midwestusnews

These folks are very accurate with their forecasts. I do not normally go in for the fear mongering type of hype but this is nothing to fool around with. With the temps and chill factors they are calling for it will get very dangerous for those of us who must venture out of doors over the weekend.

There is a lot of buzz about this winter rivaling that of 1977-1978. Those of us who lived through that one know how cold and snowy it was. I spent a lot of days sled riding and snowmobiling when I should have been in school back then!

Denver just misses the most sever according to that map, but it is already cold enough here that I made sure I brought the brass monkeys inside.

Hey, any of you Southerners need to borrow some ice fishing gear?

Last Saturday I woke up to -17 with a windchill of -30 to -40. Today it's a balmy +13 which is the warmest it's been in a week. We are expecting another 5" - 9" of snow with a forcasted high on Friday of -2 and a low -10. Not sure what the windchill will be. We have had sub zero temps here (Des Moines IA) for the past week.

The thermo meter out back says +20 now. I don't think it is going to hit the 28 degree mark Acuweather is predicting. It's snowing lightly. We are not supposed to get more than an inch or 3. We'll see.

Rainbowchaser, I have been ice fishing and thought it was overrated. A whole like watching a hole in the floor. Thanks but I will pass.

The guy who "took me" ice fishing was very disappointed, he want me to catch an "eelpout".

Nothing wrong with a good 'pout !! Going to go stare at a hole in the floor for a couple days next week myownself. It's been -30 and worse around here lately and even those of us that got to work in it ain't all that happy. yeh, you kind of get used to it, but you don't really learn to like it ! ( But we don't tell the folks down South that, we just tell them we're tough !)
