Punch embroidery yarn fly tying swap

There's been a bit of punch yarn fever stirred up lately, so we need a swap to cover it. Here it is. Limited to 12 tyers plus myself. Sign up closes April 19. Everyone submit 12 (uh, make that 10) flies of their pattern utilizing punch embroidery yarn. Include your flies, return packaging with postage, and a crushproof container. Have your flies TO ME by May 15. Don't wait until May 13 to ship your flies. If they are late, I will return them.
I hope everyone enjoys this one. If you need inspiration, Al Campbell's Too Simple patterns in his 2004 archives might be a good starting point. I will send shipping info as soon as everyone is signed up.

You shouldn't have to spend more than $2/spool. And remember, if you use the pretty punch yarn, order by phone. It is cheaper than by the internet.

Just what is "punch" yarn? If someone will explain I will join in the swap. Some sort of a nymph tied with copper. JGW

white43, I went ahead and signed you in. Here is the explanation:

Punch embroidery yarn is usually made in acrylic. It works as a dubbing substitute and winds on like chenille. Al Campbell did some flies in a "too simple" series in 2004 and I just found out about it and am taken with the simplicity of its use. It is simply a cool material that is dirt cheap. It runs $1.50/200 yards. It can be substituted for most nymph and some dry bodies.

Specifically look at the too simple mayfly dry, too simple bunny emerger, and too simple baetis nymph.

Thanks. I'll check with my sister to see if she has some, or the quilt shop up the road. I'll tie an immitation of the Hare 'n Copper nymph I found in New Zealand. Call it a Yarn 'n Copper if you wish. JGW
