Danged Alec,

First I'd heard of the problems in the
article. I think everyone was very much
encouraged by the numbers of stripers in the
bay area now, but this fish disease could be
a disaster in the making. An important
industry to the area as well as a major
fishery for many of our FAOLers. Not to
mention the aspect of being infected by
them. Darned scarey. Thanks for the

flytackle, It seems the entire Chesapeake water shed is in trouble. The smallmouth bass populations in the Susquehanna, Shenandoah, and the Potomac Rivers are in trouble with fish kills, fish with lesions. Seems the entire system is gasping for its life.

This is old news. Folks fishing this area should be advised to handle ALL stripers carefully. We no longer handle the fish with bare hands. Any open wound can pick-up the bacteria. This is serious business and the "myco" bacteria is nasty in humans!
