There are lots of ways to mimic an egg and different legal boundaries seem to determine what people think. Here in AK they recently decided a bead was a "fly" and allowed them in "Fly Fishing Only" areas.
That said, I suspect your bigger question may be about tying flies like the "Glo Bug" which is a ridiculously easy fly to tie, and effective in many iterations. Literally, a few wraps of thread for a base layer, a soft loop around a bunch of McFlyfoam (yarn, not solid) which is then cinched, wrapped like a parapost and tied off. The bundle of McFlyfoam is then pulled straight up and cut all at once straight across. The result fluffs into a nearly perfect sphere every time. It is literally a 15-second tie when doing them in huge numbers...
There are tons of patterns using a string of beads with other materials to mimic rotting flesh, fresh salmon trimmings, etc. the Happy Meal is an example.
curved hook + craft store pom pom + super glue = easy peasy glo bug
Thank you!
Super simple. LOL Thank you!
