A nice winging alternative (especially in smaller sizes) if you don't have any decent hen hackle tips. Tied here as a baetis; change colors/size to suit your needs.

    hook - Dai Riki 125 #18
thread - Uni 8/0 olive dun
    shuck - Congo Hair brown
    abdomen - goose biot baetis
wing - hen hackle dun (wonderwing style)
    hackle - dun

    Part 1

    Mash down barb, start thread

tie in CH, wrap back to bend; trim shuck

tie in moistened biot, notch side down for ribbed effect

wrap biot forward to 75% mark; tie off/trim

take 2 hen hackles, shiny sides facing each other (feathers curve away from each other); trim butt ends

    Part 2

stroke barbs back (stem length a little less than hook shank); tie in (wings even with back of abdomen), trim tips and wings

tie in hackle; wrap, tie off, half hitch x 2, SHHAN

    trim out hackle underneath

    Regards,
    Scott
