I'm not sure it is easier but, I think I like the texture better than the deer. Elk seems to not roll as much. Funny all the patterns I found for CDC and Elk called for deer hair. I have some nice elk I may try. However, after our very bad winter, all the local pan fish are deep in the ponds and only seem to be taking dark/black wet flies.
