Default Hook Sizes For Winged Wets

What hooks and size do you generally tie winged wet flies on for fishing? Some say 3906B or 3399 Mustads. I've never fished winged wets and I'm curious as to what size to fish. Don Bastian recommends 8s and 10s. Just curious because I need to buy some hooks.
    Thanks,
    Bruce

I prefer to tie em on #8 hooks. 3399 when I have em, 3906B when I dont.

    That's a #8 Esmeralda on a 3906B. It has been bitten.

I like size 10 in whichever you can find... 3399's or 3906B's.

    Hi,

Most of mine are tied size 12 and 14, but I'll tie some size 10 and some size 16 as well. I tend to use a Black Magic, which is a New Zealand hook, round bend. Similar to the 3399s I think.

I like tying them on size 8 3399, but when I fish them, I use size 12-14.

Size 12 and 14 are my choices. I also am getting to like 3366 instead of 3399.
i am a ring eye guy. The TDEs are a thing of the past in my opinion.

Very interesting. Got pics or an online source for those? Just dropped closed to $100 on hooks, so I won't be in the market for a little while, but when I do, I'm going to be looking primarily at sampling a variety of hooks from abroad and I'd like to include BM in that.

    #10 - #18 mostly... depends on what I'm tying.
