    Default Headlight for tying?

I just saw a video where a guy was tying with a LED headlamp. Anyone use one of these are your bench?

i use a "daylight" lamp about head height. does that count?

i guess if you needed direct light on the fly it could work. seems to me i would be moving my head down to position the light.

it would also be a light emitting diode and would not produce the color correctly. too blue!

I have a magnifier that has 3 LEDs in it for additional light. It is a little blue, but for everyday tying it is great. Battery powered so it can be used where there is no electricity.

I think I would rather have the light on the fly all the time rather than moving with my head, though.

I used one for several hours at a time to read with earlier this year when there was a major power outage here. It was a literal pain in the neck as the focus of the light is not nearly as flexible as my eye is. Adjusting my head position to read down the page or change sides of the book got uncomfortable after a while. I didn't try to tie any flies but I would expect similar results for long term use. It might be O.K. to crank out a couple of quick hatch matchers in camp but not real practical for me otherwise.
I can think of few acts more selfish than refusing a vaccination.

I've used one to tie around camp. Worked fine for me.
