Thread: Golden Stone Fly

  1. Default Golden Stone Fly

    Hook: Daiichi 1260-06
Tail - Montana Fly Barred Legs
Weight - Lead tied in on both sides of the hook, then wrapped overtop again. Pressed with pliers to give shape (so, a solid 7" of .025 lead)
Body - Gold Vinyl Rib, over Orange ice dub.
Legs - Montana Fly Barred Legs
    Shell Back - Mottled-Thin Skin
Abdomen - Rusty brown ice dub

This was tied with orange ice dub under neath it, but now i've been tying it with orange, then using a marker to blacken the top, to give that good color that goldenstones really have

i'm really happen with them, they're gonna be real, real tough to lose

    better pic of the shellback

    Brent,
Very nice flys. What part of the country are you in? Those would work well in my "neck of the woods", for sure. Thanks for sharing and Best Regards.....

I'm from Calgary, they'll be great (well, hopefully...i might have cursed myself the first time i fished one and slammed a big whitefish, instead of a big brown or rainbow) for before, during, and after runoff

Gotta tie enough, so i can fish them from may through till mid july.

I'll get some tungsten beads today, see how they look

    Brent -

Not the curse of the WHITEFISH ?! Oh no - that fly is forever doomed on your local waters.

So since nothing in all of Alberta is gonna take that thing ever again, even when expertly fished by the recently nominated Poster Child of Winter Fly Fishing, you might as well send all that you have down here to Idaho so they get a real test on real fish ?!

PM with mailing address will be forthcoming.

    Default They look deadly

Looks like it could bite you. Forget sending the flies to Idaho....Some fish here in Newfoundland have said they'd like to meet them. I can send my address when you're reasdy :O)

    Great job.
