    Default 12-12 club anyone?

Anyone a member of the 12-12 club?

12inch or larger trout caught on 12X tippet?

Who makes 12x tippet material and what is the breaking strength?

Does a 12" trout on a size 32 fly and 10x tippet count?

    Deezel;
"Varivus" is about the only ones putting out 12X tippet material....... that I've run across so far, anyway.
It's .0026 tip diameter, with a 1.01# breaking strength. Although, I've seen various ads for Varivus tippet and it seems EACH shop, claims a slightly different tip diameter, and/or, breaking point. Varivus says it's .0026 and 1.01#, but I've seen it heralded at .0032 and clear up to 1.06# breaking point?!

It's also pretty "stretchy", when it gets that thin too, so when you go after Steelhead and Marlin with it, and using those #32 Mustads, mated up with an 7' 6" 3wt,......make sure you use a loooong tippet, to compensate!

(I don't SUPOOOOOSE, you're all fired up to let loose of some of those impossible to find, #32s by any chance.........really cheap?? That is, if they're the Mustad bronze, I have enough of the gold ones. Okay, okay, sorry!! I HAD to ask!)

Considering that legitimate tippet material TYPICALLY goes down in size by .001 as you go down in size and 8X is SUPPOSED to be .003; that would make 12X -.002 in diameter.

I am waiting for the size 52 hook to come out so I can tie it to that 12X that is -.002.

    Wonder what I'll catch???

Maybe a trout that is -12" long?

    Paul,

I was actually talking about Tiemco 32s. They are about the same size as the Mustad 28 but with a larger gape.

As far as the Mustad 32's, I had some but haven't been able to find them. One of these days they may pop up, I hope. I never tried to tie a fly on one of these hooks. You'll have to speak with Hans about that feat.

Mountain River Fly Shop in Cotter, AR does this.

Steve Dally might be along later to give the real details.

I was in there this fall and picked up a spool of 12x. (Varivas)

I will try this on the White River, of course....but I am definately going to practice up on some of the small streams in Missouri first! I could see losing a lot of flies to the bigger trout in Arkansas!

All of this is in fun, of course. I don't consider any of this serious competition. Maybe more as a motivation to explore your angling skills.

Well lets see (doubtful if I could), normal box of hooks, 100 count, size 32, 1000 count?
I can't see a 22, let alone something that small!! Do they include a 10x Magnifying glass with them?
