Thread: There's a new smell in town

    Well, it was destiny.

There's a new mask scent for "The Treatment" for all you not-to-fainte-of-heart die-hards. Try the new Anise masked Finger Treatment.

This release is not subtle at all - it's intended to smell. It's the same old treatment... fixin' up the worn-out tying fingers, but with a twist.

Mebbe this new scent will remind eveyone to use this stuff sparingly. If you put it on heavy, it might be easier to find you if you get lost in the woods but your new b-board 'handle' might end-up being "Bear Bait"!

& remember to keep the lid on tight! It will last a long time if kept sealed tightly.

anise oil is also a main component in a lot of commercial fish attractant scents. Odd that it would pop up in something you would put on your hands when tying which might then wind up on the fly....
If it swims and eats, it'll eat a fly.

And just how would this be different than the scent from say a cheeseburger, or BBQ Pork sammich, or the gummie bears you may snack on while tying? Maybe the fishies would like a little diversity in the scent they may key in on. I say we go for a whole line of "Junk Food Scents" just to keep it interesting.

    Time to go to work.

Anise makes me think of Pizzelles, Anisette, Sambuca, and Ouzo.

I don't about anise attracting fish; Italians and Greeks possibly.

My take on this is it has to smell like somthing, better somthing the fish like than somthing that they don't like. I havent used this as my days of rough dry fingers from working are over. (I hope) but it is said that if you put it on it lasts for days. if you don't want the smell transfer just use it a day ahead of when your going to tie.

    Just my thoughts

With the husband catching more steelhead than me so far, I'm hoping this evens things up

I read somewhere that Oil of Olay has turtle oil and it attracts fish.

UK stillwater fishers like to use strips from snack bags (Dorito's, cheese poofs, etc.) for cheeks on their chironomid patterns. I've long suspected that they were scenting their flys.

As far as anise is concerned, I think its a masking agent and not necessarily an attractant.
