Good one Roy; Great to see the old ways still have a foothold. Somebody will have a neat Christmas present. Jax

That pic is beautiful. The flies look like they're right out of a Bergman book!

I've never tied flies into gut before and haven't seen hooks for sale without the usual eye loop for threading tippet material. Did you just cut off the eye loops, or is there a manufacturer you'd like to share with us who makes them?

    Thanks mgj,
    NJguy,
the hooks are standard, the eyes were removed by holding the hook firmly by the eye in a large artery clamp, then tweak the hook with the other hand - a couple of twists and they came off clean.

    No big secret

You got to love giving flies away for Christmas gifts. It gives you an excuse to experiment with different colors and patterns in larger sizes without wasting materials. It is a cheap way of giving people something nice for Christmas. This year I am making sets of earings for all the females and framed pictures to all the males. I gave my mom an early pair last week to wear, now all her friends want a pair. I think I opened a can of worms.

    Great pic
