    Default Faux Jay

    Since I

    - don't have the need to spend money on a Eurasian Jay skin
    - didn't feel like driving 10 miles to find some Rit dyes in the proper colors
    - ran out of guinea feathers (which would work well, too)
    - had a few minutes between coats of paint on some kitchen cabinet doors

I grabbed some well-marked feathers off a Mearns quail skin, broke out the Koolaid Ice Blue Raspberry (2 packs in 1 cup of water) and had at it. Color was a bit too light (more of a kingfisher blue) so I added 1/4 tsp of blue food coloring and cooked it 1 minute in the microwave

    I can live with this.

    Regards,
    Scott
