Anybody tried "bug collars" - narrow beads to create hotspots on your nymphs. From Bozeman Fly goods. Something for us to order for our after Christmas presents.

Those are kinda cool....
My wife and I went in a fly shop, I was looking around the tying section, she tells the proprietor "Wow, you have almost as much fly tying stuff as we do in our basement"

Interesting idea, but they cost as much as beads (actually a lot more considering I buy my beads in bulk). For that kind of money, a few under wraps of lead wire or tape, and a collar of dubbing, will achieve the same effect, or at least close enough. They are neat, and thanks for bringing them up, but I don't think I'll be trying them out any time soon.
When I was tying at the IFFF Fair I was given some. I tried some last night, some are UV some not. I had trouble getting them to mate with my beads, in fact turned them around for a better fit. Not something I would pay for.
I guess if I wanted a hot spot there I'd just tie in a collar of the right colored thread.
I thank you herefishy for bringing them to our attention...some may think they are great.I'm glad to know they exist.
Agree that it's an interesting product (although I use thread or Uni-stretch for the same effect).

Scott
