#12 brown PMX with grizz hackle Ribbed in black wire. Pink or orange post. Fish it up high, cut the post and fish it down low. Cut the wing and fish it with just the post as an egg sucking thingamabastard. You can spread the sparkle underwing and fish it spent. you can push the wing up high and it looks like high wings. etc. etc.
Good multi-imitator.

I debated between black wooly bugger and a clouser, and decided on the clouser as it might take just a few more species than the bugger.
Now coming from a wet fly fishermans point of view I often go with a three wet fly rig of various patterns. I do go to new streams and do not have a clue at times. So I go with my tried and true wet fly fishing instincts and use the old reliable three fly wet fly rig. I often get my answers pretty quick what the fish are looking for.

Elkhair Caddis (#16 & #14) - Toss it up stream as a dry - when it starts to drag down stream, pull it under, and fish it back as a wet. You are just as likely to get a hit in either direction. Also effective as an emerger or skittered along the surface with a lot of movement imparted. Toss a larger size one and you have a big stone or wet -a streamer.
