Yesterday after we helped put the flags up in Sacajawea Park (just like the front/main page this week) we took off for Quake Lake, created by the great earthquake in 1959 ....I read the book on it when we got home last night, what an event! We also stopped in to meet the folks at Campfire Lodge which is where the 2011 Montana Fish-In is scheduled. Trav had known the previous owners and is very familiar with the place...we also drove down Ghost Village Road just amazing that some of the old cabins which were floated in on the wave of water from the quake are still there - crumbling, but there.
The pussy willows are just out and trees in bud, spring is barely there. As far as Yellowstone Lake, it is still frozen, but that is another thousand feet above where we were. Season doesn't open until the 15th of July.
Lots of folks fishing the Madison, did see one fish caught, not big. Water there isn't up much, no real run-off there yet.
On the way down saw lots of rubber rafts, kayaks and just a few fishermen on the Gallatin.
Hugs,
LF
