Default New Cabela's Traditional II Blank Fpr Father's Day

Well, my wish came true and I received a new Cabela's Traditional II rod blank in a 9ft 5wt. Already ordered a window reel seat and am in the process of ordering other components.
Has anyone out there used the titanium guides - vs - regular chrome guides and is there much of a difference in quality and life?
I'll keep you all posted as I build this one up. I'm very excited to throw a line and see how it does.

That's a good Fathers day gift

I've used both guides. It's more a personal preference type thing to be honest. Most Titanium guides are just titanium coated (not solid titanium) so there's really no difference in weight, just the color. With a lot of use the titanium coating can wear off but it takes a few years of use for that to happen. There's really not advantage to them, or no real disadvantage ethier. Just what ever each builder likes to use.

Thanks, Steve. Anyone know if the H&H Titanium guides are a coating or solid? The price would indicate the latter.

    Thumbs up Snake Brand Guides

    Kelly -

Don't know if they have titanium or titanium coated guides, but if you want to put really high quality guides on your rod, take a look at Snake Brand Guides.

Thanks, John. I'll take a look at that site. I do have my mind set for single foots, but I'm open to a variance from that. Hope things are well with you and your wife in your new digs and surrounding area.

Have you ever tried REC Recoils kglissmeyer? they make a very nice SF titanium colored guide which is super light weight.

I haven't, Steve. Thanks for the tip. Where's the best place and price for these?

they're pricey, but right nice. light durable though somewhat brittle.

personally though I'd go w/ snake brand, the industry standard after all.
