I use Krylon Krystal Klear on any inscriptions, because I had the ink react with the finish on my first rod. The clear coat will seal the ink or paint from the finish, and it is better to be safe than to rework a rod.

I'm boxing mine up this weekend so it's ready to go as soon as we know where to. I even had time for the wife to make a bag and I'll probably pack it in a tube(nothing fancy)
So here is the plan...I will be drawing names and sending a PM to everyone this weekend. I will be out of town for work next week and I want everyone to have the adress for shipment before I go.
In light of what happened with some of the blanks. I would suggest that you pack your rods in a sturdy container and insure the package.
I will be putting my rod in the mail when I return Friday. I hope everyone is trying to make the April 15th deadline so we can wrap this up and go fishing!

Quick question - is there any benefit in shipping in SCH 80 PVC or HDPE? I was thinking about placing the rod inside some foam pipe insulation and inside a SCH 80 PVC or HDPE tube. Suggestions? Preferred shippers? I've never shipped a rod before.
After seeing some of the rod's I'm trying to get the cat to eat this one, somehow I got "Ripples" over the writing on the rod. Don't know how, I did it the same way I've done the other's I've done, noticed it when I took it out to test cast it, it cast's Nice. The only thing that still need's doing is the Rod Sock.
setnhooked I prefer fedex or ups. I am using pvc pipe, foam pipe wrap, and bubble wrap. As soon as this rod comes off the dryer it is getting packaged up.
The anticipation builds ... even more!!!

Don't look back, we ain't goin' that way.
Well, I'm done just a couple of touch ups and it will be ready to pack and mail out with the taxes....here are some pics...a fun build.
I used a fenwick style cork grip and black aluminum reel down locking reel seat
I used black metallic thread for the wraps...and 3 lite coats of flex coat lite for the finish
The signature wrap...end of hook keeper wrap is roughly 12 inches and the sig wrap is marked at a fun 16 inches
I used a spigot ferrule
