I have a couple Pflueger Medalists. A 1494 like the OPs and two 1492 1/2 that were made in USA. The wide 1492 1/2s give a classic look to a cane rod. They'll take a 5 wt line well.
St. Croix Legand Ultra 9' 2 pc pre IPC with case (no sock required) $200 plus shipping. Small scratch in reel seat from me falling in the Lochsa river. A great fast action rod.
I have a Winston IM6 (was WT) 9' 4 wt. 2 pc. In excellant condition. I'll take $325 for and I'll pay the freight CONUS. Its a great casting rod, not a nick or scratch on it

I've never met Warren in person but we've shared PMs. He took up for me on a thread here a few years ago which was deleted by a moderator because the moderator was wrong and did not want others to...
You're asking folks here to make a rod decision for you? Only you can do that.
One of the finest people to ever grace this board. He will be in my thoughts
Everyone's taste and style are different. What I may think is the "best" you might dislike. For me the best casting small stream rod I have ever fished is an Orvis Far and Fine, 7'9" for a 5 wt., the...
My 3 Forks was made in Korea. Newer versions are made in China. I've never cast a Chinese one so I can not comment on those.
It was perhaps 20 years ago when I first bought a 3 Forks 3 wt. It was...
I agree on the Three Forks. A beginner should start with a rod that casts well whether the caster is a good caster or not. Some inexpensive rods are just to hard to get in time with.... the Three...
The best casting rod I've ever cast no matter what material it was made from is a Ron Kusse 7 1/2' for a 5 wt quad that belonged to a now deceased member here..... a $2,300.00 rod. As I false cast it...
I've been fishing the Three Forks 3 wt for a number of years. The first one I owned was made in Korea, the guides were "funny looking" - odd shaped. The guys on the now defunct "flyfishing.com" board...
I use a (what used to be a) 3 lb. coffee can with an eye bolt in the middle filled with concrete on a larger boat. Perhaps a (what used to be a) 1 lb. coffee can would work for a kayak.
We've had a wet summer so far here in the Missouri Ozarks, we're about 10" above normal. I notice poison starting to turn in hedge rows and along fence lines. I don't notice trees starting to turn...
You're gonna love it
I've done 7 years so far. I don't get bored although I do almost nothing. We travel, spend our winters in Texas, we goof off almost constantly. Cocktail hour is 4 PM everyday...
Thank you Deanna.
I bought it new several years ago back before Gary sold out to Shimano. Its an early IMX. I really do not recall how many years ago, more than a few. I can cast a whole fly line with it and it looks...
Probably not. I listed only one as a great caster because of the distance an accomplished caster can get out of it. In he hands of some any rod can be made to cast great.
I'll do it, I'll know for sure tomorrow afternoon.
ooops sorry, the St. Croix is a 5 wt.
Dan Craft is sold pending funds
Please excuse the pics, I'm not a photographer.
1) St. Croix 9' 2 pc. 5 wt. Legand Ultra. includes factory rod tube with internal divider. $175.00 Plus $20 shipping CONUS. Nearly perfect with a...

I'm surprised the Orivis Far & Fine is not on the list as well as the Fenwick HMG. We're talking about changing the world here. The HMG did that more so than any other rod.
I've never read an...
